As I sit here listening to Disney soundtrack music and putting off studying for finals I felt the need to post something. Scrolling through my list of topics I have come up with I noticed there was nothing about makeup, which is odd because if you did not know, I 👏🏻 love 👏🏻 makeup. 👏🏻
My makeup journey started around the age of 11/12 I want to say? I was in Grade 6 when I realized I could use my dance competition stage makeup to help cover my uneven skin tone. The Mac Studio fix powder foundation is what I was using in Gr.6 and that was the extent of my makeup knowledge.
Then I expanded further to stealing my mum's mascara... I know, it's very unsanitary. Eventually, when I reached high school my makeup knowledge blossomed and I started experimenting with eyeliner and blusher. My makeup looks in high school were nothing extreme, just very natural because honestly I probably only owned 5 products total. (for everyday use, excluding stage makeup... that is a whole other entity)
In all honesty, going out clubbing really helped step up my makeup game, I got to practice more bold looks that I would have never attempted in the day time.
Don't get me wrong it took a few years to acquire all the basics of my makeup collection, and I still only own one highlight/contour palette, one foundation (at a time) and the few same brushes for like 4 years now. I know what it is like to be a makeup love on a budget, it is painful and unfair.
And even though there are tonnes of great affordable brands out there, sometimes we just don't have easy access to them, such as ColourPop Cosmetics and Makeup Geek for example. They have amazing products, but it is online and that means shipping fees for those who are not located in the USA, such as myself. A lot of brands are available online and it is incredibly convenient however those shipping costs are a killer, that is why I typically want to take advantage of the free shipping deals, but you have to pay the minimum amount and I just do not have the bank account to drop $50 on makeup.
To be honest, I am good with my money, I only spend it on food and once in a while, I will treat myself, usually on concert tickets but sometimes clothing/makeup. But now it is even tougher, being currently unemployed and just a student I have to suck it up and work with what I got.
As you can see with my blog aesthetic and Instagram feed (tjsewell95), pink is my obsession at the moments and I do not acquire any pink eyeshadows at the moment which is disappointing, but okay because I am not a wear makeup everyday kind of girl. I don't know if it is just me, but I feel like I am wasting my makeup off I put it on just to go to the grocery store for half an hour just to come back home again for the rest of the day. (As you can tell I do not have a busy schedule atm) And not get me wrong I do not have anything against people who choose to put on makeup every day, because I understand it is therapeutic for some, including myself. It is a fun thing to do, I love putting it on but recently I just cannot be bothered. But this is typical for me, I go through phases of wearing loads makeup everyday to wearing non everyday.
I think that is the extent of my makeup journey thus far, I hope you enjoyed reading and I hope to see you back here soon!
Taylor xx.
*My meme loving ass thought this might be a more enjoyable way to read my blog so I might start adding memes, but who really knows what will happen. *
